Burger King Double Cheeseburger Review:

Price Paid: $1.49 | Company: Burger King
I’ve never been one to turn down a burger that has a lot of protein. This burger delivers with two patties of beef but does it translate to taste? Read on to find out.

Look:
My mind exploded when I noticed the condiments under the cheese, and although this isn’t the norm at all Burger Kings, this franchise owner decided to do this. I think it’s brilliant! No soggy bun becau… okay, enough about the cheese! We have a toasted sesame-seed bun holding together two, charred, decent sized beef patties. An even amount of ketchup and mustard with a thick pickle under a slice of melted yellow American. Decent looking burger for the price. The build includes:

  • Sesame seed bun
  • Yellow American Cheese
  • Pickle
  • Ketchup & mustard
  • Two beef patties

Taste (8.3/10):
The star of the show is the meat (as it should be). The two flame-broiled beef patties have a unique taste that is reminiscent of a backyard bbq burger. I think this style of cooking beats the pants off of a regular flat top grill. A flat top burger is made by the extras (bacon, cheese, mushrooms, etc.), on the other hand, a flame-broiled burger can hold it’s own. I believe the meat makes up 70% of a good burger.

This burger features a lot of acidity which is attributed to the thick pickle and mustard. It comes off a bit overwhelming at some parts, however, the beef can mostly stand up to it. The cheese does very little in terms of flavor and can be done without if you’re trying to save some calories. The flame broiled taste is lasting even after consuming the burger.

Value (8.9/10):
I think this burger tastes better than a lot of the double cheeseburgers offered at other fast food brands. I am a fan of the flame-broiled beef and I think the quality is there at this price point. This burger is borderline good to excellent in terms of value, in my opinion.

It’s pretty interesting in that Burger King’s website allows you to customize your burger and it will display all the nutritional information depending on your options. See for yourself, here. Pretty neat feature. If you eat this burger plain with no cheese, you’re looking at only 300 calories with 6g of saturated fat. As to be expected with ground beef, the saturated fat content is high and thus rates poor on our health rating.

Based on a 2,000 calorie diet:

– You can eat 5 3/4 double cheeseburgers, per day.

– You will reach 22 grams of suggested saturated fat in 963 calories or 2 3/4 double cheeseburgers.

– You will reach 300mg of suggested cholesterol in 4 1/4 double cheeseburgers.
